Beulah Divests

Ending church investments in fossil fuels

We took the decision to end our investments in fossil fuels in June 2019, becoming the first local church in Wales to divest. We decided to divest for ethical reasons since fossil fuel companies are major contributors to climate change, which is having a disproportionate impact on the world’s poorest communities. We had been considering the process of divestment for several months and were supported by the organisation, Operation Noah.

The URC National Synod of Wales divested from fossil fuels in October 2019, having passed a resolution on divestment proposed by members of Beulah.
