THINK OF THE ALTERNATIVE

The theme for the Great Big Green Week in 2024 was let’s ‘swap together for good’.

We invited passers-by to take a look at our gallery of images on Beulah Road and to ‘think of the alternative’. What swap could we make, or step could we take to reduce our carbon footprints, prevent pollution and protect nature?

Beulah’s Eco Group collaborated with community artist, Jo Jones, to create the eight pictures. The panels were made from recycled plywood and framed with recycled feather-edged board while the images were created using leaves, bark and flowers. We helped collect the materials locally and Jo ran workshops so we could create the images together. We wanted each one to be interesting to look at from a distance and up close.

Each panel had two contrasting images – the brighter one on the left represented a choice each one of us could make to help tackle the climate and nature crisis.

Please take a closer look at each of the 'Street Art' panels that were on display on the Canolfan wall.

And here are some ideas for 'actions' you can take yourself.
